My Story
I Could Have Easily Quit…And I Did In A Way!
Have you ever woke up one morning and said “This is not me…this is not what my life was supposed to be like?
In 1997, this is exactly where I was…confused, depressed and wanting more. I was a college dropout trying to stay afloat and raise a family on a truck drivers salary…a pretty pathetic existence for a former honor student heading into veterinary medicine. Slowly over the past seven years I had given-up on everything…my desires, my goals and my dreams…and I didn’t even realize it was happening. The christian group Casting Crowns has a song titled Slow Fade that epitomizes the struggles we all face in life and how it’s so easy to lose ourselves.
That Moment In Time That Changed Everything
Here we are…we have a two and a half year old daughter and my wife is seven months pregnant with our second child. She has spent the last several weeks in the hospital with an undiagnosed intestinal disorder. Her condition has the doctors totally confused. Her life and the life of our unborn son is in their hands and they don’t know what to do. My wife is terrified, my family is worried and I’m starting to contemplate the worse case scenarios. My mind is screaming…”This is not supposed to happen!!!” Three days later we’re in emergency exploratory surgery with one of the leading experts behind the knife. We have a 50/50 chance of saving them both. Here I am…my life is totally turned up-side-down and inside-out. The feelings of failure are starting to sink in.
The Power Within
It’s been said that “you don’t really learn to live, until you lose it all.” Fortunately, the surgery was a huge success and my wife and son have been blessing my life going on twelve years now. But the most impacting part about this whole fiasco is how I was able to find my true strength…my Power Within. Through this challenging time in my life, I found clarity and strength. I realized life was too short to waste and that my purpose in life was only unrealized. I made the decision to change…to Live Again! I went back to college with intentions of finishing my pre-med studies and partnering with my brother in his practice, but things soon changed. Over the next few years as I moved closer to graduation time, I started to realize that this was not the profession I wanted. No family time, emergency calls all hours of the night, and bitting and kicking patients wasn’t my idea of happiness. Instead of medicine, I started a very productive engineering career that, in some respects, attracted me to the business world and internet marketing.
You Get Out Of Life What You Ask Of It
In 2004…we now have three kids, an above average income, a mortgaged house, two auto loans and a lot of credit card debt. We are the happy average middle class American family, Right? Wrong Again! Bad choices and “keeping-up-with-the-jones’s” is taking a huge toll on our family unity. Yes, we’re living comfortably, but not without a lot of sacrifice. I’m working 14 hours a day and I rarely see my kids, much less, have any kind of impact on their lives. My wife has taken on a cleaning job just so we can keep the kids in there dance and sports activities. Basically, the more we made the more we spent. Fortunately, this is when we were introduced to Dani Johnson and her “First Steps To Success” training seminars. I can not say enough about what she has done for our marriage and relationships…the women is a phenomenal trainer. We went on to graduate from the “Creating A Dynasty” program and now we are able to bless our friends and family with the knowledge that has allowed us to find freedom. I could literally write a 10,000 word essay on the benefits of her training…but in a nut shell I can sum it up like this… “You Get Out Of Life What You Ask Of It!”
Our God Is An Awesome God
This is a great song, but also a very powerful statement. When talking to clients or friends I often recall that horrible day that God used to change my life for the better. “…for the good of those who follow him”, Right? When I think about the despair at that time in the hospital, it still sends chills down my spine and tears to my eyes. To think that if that did not happen, I wouldn’t be the man I am today. I would not have met Dani Johnson or Mike Dillard…I would not have been fortunate enough to work with likes of Jeff Johnson and of coarse the legendary Jeff Walker. And I would not be a successful internet marketing consultant. I would have missed out on it ALL. August Rush is my favorite movie for this very reason…the lost Evan Taylor finds his connection in life through the music that is within him. He lives and breathes for that connection in life!
Who Is Kory Now?
Trying to put myself in a nutshell will be interesting… On the business side, I am a small business advocate, internet marketing consultant and founder of Taylor Media Group LLC, a marketing firm structured around the needs of small business owners who understand the benefits of leveraging proven marketing strategies and systems to dramatically increase their bottom-line. Whether the business is in the network marketing/home-based business arena or the standard “brick and mortar” store front business, or Church and non-profit organizations, the attraction marketing principles and systems that I’ve implemented in my own successful internet marketing business are universal in there application. These are powerful techniques that all revolve around one strategic element.
Enough about business…let’s get to the fun stuff!
I live on a small ranch in Oklahoma with my wife and four children and we can’t forget about the two dogs, twelve horses, one cat and and a herd of deer that come to visit every morning. We enjoy a lot of different activities that are geared around creating memories and developing the leadership skills of the children we influence. My wife and I are Life Group Leaders (small group family ministry) and Teen Group Leaders with our local church which really sounds crazy considering where we came from and the struggles we had to overcome.
We have a special interest in our teens because of the lack of family leadership and the overwhelming amount of pressure our teens are exposed to in our society today. We teach a purity class that has really opened our eyes and challenged us to be that “Real” person…that mentor they can count on. If it was easy, everyone would be tackling these issues, but it’s not so no one is stepping up. Our mission is Mission454.com …check it out! A special shout-out goes to my good friend Lee Langdon… the legacy of his life is found in the hearts of these kids! Isn’t that what it’s all about?

We’ve recently been playing around with dirt bikes and I have to tell you…hanging on to a 450cc monster of a dirt bike is probably one of the most exhilarating, yet challenging things I have ever done. I really like living on the edge, but this monster demands respect. My wife still says I’m a “dirt bike accident waiting to happen”…and she’s probably right. But life is to be lived! Right? If I had to choose one thing that has been the driving force behind our success in life, it would be the internet marketing areana. Not just the industry, but the concepts, the training, the skills and the depth of knowledge of the people we surround ourselves with. You know the saying, “Birds of a feather…” Right? Well, I used to surround myself with the party crowd and the “poor me” minded. No direction, No real friends, No dreams…I was just existing. To think that my whole life could still be like that if it were not for that terrible day in 1997…that moment in time where Change Happened… Priceless!

Thanks Lee for the kind words!
I read your story and you sound like an awesome guy! I like the \"Changing the world one person at a time!\" One of my dreams is to put a very large damper on the pharmaceutical companies, one person at a time, so it goes along with your Changing the world. I have that dream, too, about changing the world. I want to feed all the starving children and tell everyone about Jesus and what He has done for us!
I hope to hear more from you on Facebook!
